Butter Oil is made from butter that comes from cows eating 100% rapidly growing grass. The dairy oil is purely extracted by centrifuge, without the use of heat.

Why is it good for me?

Butter Oil contains the X-factor, discovered by Weston Price. This X-factor (Vitamin K) helps the body to absorb and utilize minerals.Butter oil contains the Wulzen factor, also called the anti-stiffness factor, which may protect humans and animals from calcification of the joints – degenerative arthritis.Butter Oil also contains a broad and deep range of Quinones including Vitamin K’s, E’s, and CoQ enzyme families.Other important nutrients include: CLA, Butyric Acid, Stearic Acid, Oleic Acid and Lauric Acid.

Great! However, Butter Oil is a highly concentrated source of all the goodness found in butter. You would have to eat an unreasonable amount of butter to compare with the goodness found in Butter Oil.

How it is different from ghee?
Ghee is heated during the process of extraction, destroying many of the nutrients found in butter oil. Ghee can also be made from any butter, whereas butter oil is specifically made from butter that comes from cows grazing on rapidly growing grass. The speed of the grass growth, timing of the grazing of this grass, species of grass, climate and extraction method are all important to make real High Vitamin Butter Oil.

An exciting new chapter has begun of the truly traditional food - Fermented Cod Liver Oil!

For those interested in consuming foods in their most traditional forms, this is a great leap forward. Non-fermented cod liver oil (even the purest kind that contained only naturally occuring nutrients) undergoes much processing to get from the fish to the bottle. This processing involves heat treatment that destroys precious nutrients and enzymes. Fermented cod liver oil is NEVER heated and the fermentation process is wonderfully slow - taking a whole year! In that time, numerous nutrients develop in the oil, increasing the nutritional value and enabling easier assimilation in the body. For more information on how cod liver oil was traditional extracted, see Returning to Traditional Production Techniques for the Quintessential Sacred Food by Dave Wetzel, manufacturer of Green Pasture Products.

He also emphasises that exact levels of A and D are not as important as consuming foods in their traditional form. ”Nutrient assays, including vitamins A and D, for our fermented oils vary widely depending on methodology, lab and batch. Current science struggles to answer the questions we have on our sacred fermented foods. There are many naturally occurring metabolites and co-factors that make the issue of measuring natural nutrients difficult in the fermented oils. We do know that historical cultures liberally consumed these sacred foods to great benefit without today’s standardization of knowledge.”

The nutrients that Fermented Cod Liver Oil are rich in include: EPA/DHA, Vitamins A and D, Quinones and Omegas 3, 6, 7 and 9. Wow!

Taking Cod Liver Oil

The taste of the Fermented Cod Liver Oil is different to the non-fermented. It isn’t more fishy, however, because it is a lacto-fermented product, it tends to sting the back of the throat, especially if taken straight (which I wouldn’t recommend!) I have found the best way to take the oil is mixed with a small amount of warm water, swallowing quickly. The Oslo Orange and the Cinnamon Tingle are both emulsified, making them gentler on the throat and are good options for those trying Fermented Cod Liver Oil for the first time.

Dave writes “Adding something acidic such as lemon juice, apple cider vinegar or kombucha may help with the tingling at the back of the throat. Others report good results adding a little honey or maple syrup or ‘chasing fat with fat’ by following the cod liver oil with cream, egg yolk or butter. Another way to minimize the throat tingle effect is to take it during or after a fatty breakfast.”

Fermented Cod Liver Oil Flavours

Unflavoured, anti-oxidant free (Viking strength!) - Purely FCLO (Fermented Cod Liver Oil)

Salty Cod - FCLO, Sea Salt from Utah, cranberry oil (anti-oxidant).

Oslo Orange - FCLO, with organic orange oil, organic lemon oil, cranberry oil (anti-oxidant) and fermented hyaluronic acid to emulsify.

Fruit Attack Gel - FCLO, natural grape flavour, organic orange oil, organic lemon oil, organic stevia leaf, cranberry seed oil (anti-oxidant), silica.

Blue Ice Royal Gel

Blue Ice Royal is a blend of High Vitamin Butter Oil and Fermented Cod Liver Oil. The combining of High Vitamin Butter oil and Cod Liver Oil was one of Weston A. Prices most noted discoveries. Blue Ice Royal is a substantial improvement over the old Blue Ice Therapeutic Line. Blue Ice Royal has 2/3 Blue Ice Fermented CLO and 1/3 X-Factor Gold High Vitamin Butter oil per serving. Blue Ice Royal makes the daily usage of the fermented clo and butter oil economical, and convenient.

Blue Ice Royal Gel Flavours

Non-flavoured and antioxidant free - FCLO, X-Factor Gold High Vitamin Butter Oil, Silica.

Cinnamon Tingle - FCLO, X-Factor Gold High Vitamin Butter Oil, organic cinnamon oil, organic stevia leaf, silica, cranberry seed oil (anti-oxidant).

Feedback

We would love to know your experiences with consuming fermented cod liver oil…. which flavours would you recommend to your friends? How do give it to your kids? Any other questions? We’d love to hear from you.

Now that QLD has joined the list of state governments adding unwanted chemicals to our drinking water, such as the dreaded fluoride, many heath conscious people are wondering how on earth can they can undo what has been done to their tap water. Some have taken the quickest solution of purchasing bottled water either from the super market or through a home delivery service, but after a short time, the exorbitant costs of such substitute becomes frightfully known.

The optimal solution would be to have a home filtration system that could remove these nasties, not break the bank to get set up, cheap to run, and allow you to have fresh filtered great tasting water on tap right in your own home 24/7.

The good news that such a system exists, it’s called Reverse osmosis (RO) and it is the most economical method of removing up to 99% of all contaminants. RO is the only effective way of removing metal salts, pesticides, dissolved solids and FLUORIDE.

Most water filters are really great at removing the smell and taste of water but do little to remove the chemicals that are doing you the real harm. Don’t be fooled by good advertising, only RO systems can continually and reliably produce the cleanest and best tasting drinking water right in your own home.

As part of a Christmas / New Year special, and as a result of QLD government adding fluoride to the water, GPA Wholefoods is running a special on our 5 stage Reverse Osmosis Filter with re-mineralisation. To view this special please visit our website HERE.

We have also pieced together a FAQ document that answers many of the commonly asked questions about RO systems, you can view it HERE.

A while back we posted a blog about water filters, there are some interesting subjects raised and is well worth a read, you can find it HERE.

I often get asked this question, so here are a few answers that might help….

Fermented fish liver oils are extracted without heat but rather a natural lacto-fermentation.

We select exclusively organ tissue as the source of the fermented fish oils (compared to industrial model fish oils) as this is where the nutrients are located. There is much more to fish oil nutrients than EPA and DHA. It is only because of the heavy industrialization of this industry that this field of products has nothing else to discuss but Omega 3, EPA and DHA. These nutrients will occur naturally in all fish oils including the fermented clo/skate liver oil. I think the real story is in the thousands of micro nutrients that are provided in a Fermented fish oil.

Fermented liver oils are a deep rich pigment. Pigments are nutrients

The oils have a 8-9mg/g total quinone count. Butter oil is in the 23-25 mg/g range. These figures are very high! The complex of the quinones is completely different between the fish liver oils and the butter oil. Even the quinone complex between the different fish oils is unique. (variety is complete nutrition). Quinones consist of nutrients such as vitamin K’s, vitamin E’s, CoQ enzymes and other known and unknown nutrients/components.

Lacto-fermentation transforms natural vitamin A into different metabolites that are easily absorbed into our bodies (just as in your gut if your gut is working properly). I have found reference to at least 15 different natural forms of Vitamin A that nature provides. Not just the 2-3 that are commonly discussed.

There are over 3000 derivatives of vitamin D. Many are natural and others are produced in laboratories. Not much of the vitamin D topic is understood or discussed in main stream science. Current discussions are just scratching the surface of the topic. Reminder, vitamin D is more accurately catigorized as a homone not a vitamin.

At some point I would like to see the science on the effects of plant hormones and a variety of quinones as they relate to human health. Science is just starting to look at these questions.

Efficacy, there is a difference between the processed clo and the fermented clo.

It takes 6 months to 1 year to make fermented clo. This is why it is no longer made.

Fish oils have historically been fermented for extraction; back in the Roman empire days, Viking era and all the way up to the Mid 1850’s. Rendering was introduced during the mid 1850’s as a more efficient fish liver processing method. The livers yielded a much higher total oil volume and the process could be accomplished in several hours rather than several months. What they did not understand is the effects that heat had on the nutrients (their science was not ready to address this question) . As with all industrial models, the focus was on: profitability, speed or turns and, marketability (taste).

Economical. substantially more nutrients (including A/D) per ml or teaspoon compared to other brands.

Hi All

We have just added a wonderful product to our range called Primal Defense by Garden of Life. Here is a summary of where this company came from:

Garden of Life

Jordan Rubin’s Story

When Jordan was just 19, he was suffering from a list of debilitating conditions, including intestinal parasites, abdominal pain, chronic diarrhea, liver problems, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis, prostate and bladder infections, irregular heartbeat, eye inflammation, and chronic depression.

Jordan was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Though he was not familiar with the disease, he soon learned that his future looked bleak. He was told that medications would keep him alive, but quickly discovered that their side effects were nearly as bad as the disease itself. Science knew of no cause or cure for Crohn’s at the time, and his prognosis was very poor.

After both conventional and alternative medicines failed him, and after 70 health professionals in seven countries put him through more than 500 different — and often bizarre — treatments, he was sent home in a wheelchair to die.

His world changed when his father contacted an eccentric nutritionist who said he believed Jordan was ill because he was not eating the diet of the Bible.

Now, ten years later, Jordan is fully recovered and devoting his life to help others live a long and abundant life.

He has written several books, including The Makers Diet and The Great Phtsician RX for Health and Wellness.

Primal Defense

Primal Defense is the no.1 selling probiotic in the U.S. It contains Homeostatic Soil Organisms (HSO’s). These beneficial bacteria, found in healthy soil, are vital in maintaining a balanced intestinal environment.

Primal Defense is a whole food probiotic and contains fermented ingredients, which have naturally occuring beneficial microorganisms.

81g powder

Serving size: 1 scoop (1/3 tsp)

Servings per container: 90

May increase to 3 scoops per day if desired.

Ingredients: Proprietary HSO Probiotic Blend; Barley Grass, Oat Grass, Lactobacillus plantarum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium breve, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bacillus subtilise, Lactobacillus paracasei, Bifidobacterium longum.

Other ingredients: bacterial proteases, probiotic cultures.

For many years our family has been using a high quality domestic bench top jug style water filters. Initially we were pleased with the improved taste and smell of the water and we thought it was doing the job we wanted it to. However, about a year ago, I decided to scientifically test the water quality coming out of our water filter just after a brand new cartridge was installed. The tests showed that the unfiltered water from the tap (Sydney Metropolitan) had 110 parts per million of impurities, and after going through the filter it was 71ppm; only around 30% was being removed. I then decided to speak to a chemist who advised that our system did not remove many of the nasties out of the water like Fluoride, Chloramines, Heavy Metals, Pesticides etc, and that the only way to get rid of these in a home setup is to get a reverse osmosis water filter.

My sister in law and myself spent countless hours trying to find a quality system at an affordable price. What we found was that nearly all of the decent systems cost well over $1000, some as high as $3000, and we couldn’t afford that. The system we were looking for had to meet Australian plumbing standards, be hard wearing, easy and cost effective to maintain. We found a system that fitted the criteria, and best of all it took out tap water from 110ppm down to 2ppm. A friends of ours (who is also a  scientist) told us that the remaining 2ppm is most likely just oxygen and nitrogen from the air, so effectively this system removes all dissolved substances! We then decided to offer these top quality systems through Green Pastures Australia, at a price people could afford. We secured a contract with a company selling top quality systems from USA, and are now able to offer a reverse osmosis system for an incredible $540!!

The system has been designed to be easily installed by a home handyman. It also comes with an instructional DVD.

The only way to describe the taste of this water is clean and fresh, if you can imagine the taste of water from a cool pristine mountain stream in an isolated wilderness; well that what we think this water tastes like. But if you want to try it for yourself, if you’re in the neighbourhood (Sutherland Shire Sydney) and you would like to try before you buy, you’re more than welcome to come and try a nice glass of cool refreshing water. I am also a barista, and I am currently promoting the benefits to the coffee industry of these filters. If you like your coffee and want to taste its affect on coffee, I’d love to make you a great espresso or latte when you call in!

We have a detailed FAQ about Reverse Osmosis on our website HERE.

If you would like to know more about the benefits of our system please give us a call on (02)9526-1783.
